Philip A. Stroud Email Philip
Philip A. Stroud is a founding member of the firm, and his practice is devoted to general civil litigation with a focus on personal injury and criminal law.
Philip grew up in DeSoto County, MS and completed his elementary and high school education at Southern Baptist Educational Center in Memphis, Tennessee. He completed his undergraduate degree in Managerial Finance from the University of Mississippi, and went on to receive his law degree from Samford University Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama.
While in law school, he achieved Dean’s List and was an active member of the Henry Upson Sims Moot Court Board. Upon graduation from law school, he was admitted to the Alabama Bar and accepted a position with Lyons, Pipes & Cook, P.C., an insurance defense litigation firm in Mobile, Alabama. Shortly after accepting this position, he gained admission to the Mississippi Bar and began practicing law in both states.
Philip is admitted to practice law in the Supreme Court of Mississippi, All Mississippi Federal Courts, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals , and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Alabama, and the Federal Court for the Southern District of Alabama. He has held membership in the Mississippi Bar Association, the Alabama Bar Association, the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association.
James D. Harper Email James

James D. Harper is a founding member of the firm, and his practice is devoted to general civil litigation with a focus on employment litigation, civil rights law, commercial law, and general civil litigation.
James is an Oxford, Mississippi native who graduated from Oxford High School and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi with a B.A. in Psychology. Shortly after graduation from Ole Miss, he married Julie Golden, and they moved to Memphis, Tennessee.
While in Memphis, James attended and later graduated from the Cecil C. Humphrey's School of Law at the University of Memphis. While in law school, he served as a member of the Moot Court Board and received the Dean's Distinguished Service Award and the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence in the area of Pension Planning and Welfare Benefits.
Upon graduation from law school, James took a position with Weintraub, Stock, Bennett, Grisham and Underwood, P.C. in Memphis, Tennessee, a law firm specializing exclusively in labor and employment law. After his wife's acceptance of a four year medical residency at UAB, James moved his practice to Birmingham, Alabama, where he established Harper Law Firm in the downtown area. In founding the firm, he sought to join the ideas of developing long lasting professional relationships while providing clients with a wide range of quality legal services at a reasonable price.
James is admitted to practice law in the Supreme Court of Mississippi, all Mississippi Federal Courts, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Tennessee, the Western District of Tennessee of the U.S. District Court, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, the Alabama Supreme Court, and the Northern and Middle districts of the U.S. District Court in Alabama. He has also held membership in the Mississippi Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar, The Tennessee Bar Association, the Memphis Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
Brandon Flechas Email Brandon
Brandon L. Flechas is an associate attorney with the firm. His practice includes general civil litigation, family law, employment law and criminal defense.
Brandon is a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Mississippi State University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi, where he was an active member of the Moot Court Board.
After clerking for the Supreme Court of Mississippi for two years, Brandon moved to Memphis and accepted a position with a local real estate/construction litigation, criminal defense, and family law firm.
Brandon joined Stroud & Harper in June 2009. He is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Mississippi and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi.
